Rivaling France and California as a premium wine growing region, the area known as Margaret River is set against a backdrop of rugged coastline, pristine beaches, pounding surf and towering forests.Today’s destination is Margaret River, which sits in the middle of the wine region and is a good base from which to visit several wineries as well as the spectacular beaches of Yallingup and Prevelly. Day 2 Margaret River

As most of the wineries do not open until 10am, we suggest an early morning swim or walk along the shore. The short drive out to either Eagle Bay or Meelup is well worth the effort. As you work your way through the back country lanes past the various wineries and their and their rolling hills covered with grapes, follow the signs to any one of the approximately 50 wineries in the region. All offer tastings and some will ship your purchases home for you. Plan your day based the particular blends that suit your palate or just follow your instincts, you can’t get lost. For the evenings, take advantage of local chefs who combine the best ingredients from the area to offer superb food to compliment the local vintage.
